New Michel Bilodeau op-ed in the Ottawa Citizen
Public Governance International Vice President Michel Bilodeau, drawing on his many years of experience in the Canadian healthcare sector and in line with New Synthesis , has written a new op-ed for the Ottawa Citizen approaching the ongoing crisis in Canada's healthcare system by suggesting "a series of ideas that may, over a decade or so, lead to significant improvement."

In Memory of the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney
The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, the 18th Prime Minister of Canada, passed away Feb. 29th, 2024. Mulroney was a transformative prime minister whose initiatives, including the GST and NAFTA, shape Canada to this day. Losing him is a loss for Canada.

The Honourable Jocelyne Bourgon, President of PGI, rose to the rank of deputy minister during Mulroney's time in government, and worked closely with him during the Charlottetown constitutional negotiations as Secretary to the Cabinet for Federal-Provincial Relations. In 2019, Bourgon was part of a CPAC panel looking back at Mulroney's time as prime minister and the lessons learned for leading transformative change. The video is available on CPAC's website. For more on Mulroney's legacy, particularly around public service reform, see Kathryn May's retrospective in Policy Options, for which Bourgon was interviewed.

Reflecting on the National Public Service Week of Canada, PGI has dug deep into our archives to share the first-ever digital Annual Report to the Prime Minister on the Public Service of Canada. The Sixth Annual Report was Madame Bourgon’s final report to the Prime Minister of Canada as she was preparing to move on from her role as the first female Clerk of the Privy Council. Her final report is reflective of her esteemed tenure as Clerk, one that continuously pushed boundaries and guided the Public Service of Canada through an unprecedented period of change to prepare for the challenges of the 21st century.
